The journalists murdered figure have stand 33 including this journalist killing in Bangladesh since 1990. Despite this there is no report about the situation of press in Bangladesh. Reporters Without Boarder didn’t show up to express the international concern. I don’t know why? Provably they are not informed?!? Is that so? I don’t believe that ….
I think there are other reasons behind that… if not then why does the number of dead or killed journalists differ in different organizations counting those who are promoting Freedom of Expression? If you don’t believe that just see the difference!
In a report for the year 2010, published by Reporters Without Borders shows that 57 journalists were killed because of their work. For 2011 the Number is 1.
In another report published by another organization called Committee to Protect Journalist describes that 75 journalists were killed in the year of 2010. Out of which 44 killings motive were confirmed and another 31 unconfirmed! For 2011 the number is 2.
If we look at the report published for 2010 by the organization name Press Emblem Campaign we see 110 journalists were killed worldwide. For 2011 the number is 4.
A district named Jessore, situated in the south western part of Bangladesh. A local newspaper name "Loksomaz" is being published from there. A journalist named Monirul Islam Moni works for the daily Loksomaz was beaten with a hammer because of his writings against the government. Government supported armed cadres of Bangladesh Awami League broken his fingers and hand so that he cannot write anymore. They beat him in front of his child... In one stage, the child went to the cadres and hold their hammer so that they cannot beat his father... Nothing stopped them! he was beaten severely and the Awami League supported armed cadres smashed his fingers! Broke his hand with the hammer! The report were published in different media, both local and National. None of the above mentioned organizations that promotes Freedom of Expression came up and stand by him! Monirul Islam Moni had to hospitalized with his broken fingers and Hand. He cannot write anymore!
Here I have just presented the data for the number of journalist killed in 2010 followed by 2011. And these numbers were counted differently according to different organizations that promote the Freedom of Expression. Why does the number differ in counting? Does it matter if the journalist were killed even he or she were not the direct victim of his or her journalistic works? What happens when a journalist was killed because of his journalistic works but we the living human being even cannot establish a link between the death and their journalistic works? Isn’t it this civilization bypassing his or her contribution to the society in the name of more accuracy about the annual report? Why we cannot set just a common platform?
Anyway, it does not matter for the children of that Philippine journalist who lost his father in the age of 13 days! He will be an orphan since then.
Pls have a look..
